As a group we decided to do our senior capstone project about Steve Smethers. He has had such an impact on so many of us in the Journalism Mass Communications community and we wanted to take the time to spotlight him and his accomplishments. He is such an inspiration and it has been an honor to interview him and work with him.

Meet the team:
Madeline Emerson
Senior at Kansas State University
My name is Madeline Emerson. I am from Pittsburg, Kansas and I am majoring in Journalism Mass Communications and Secondary Education- Journalism. Photography is one of my favorite things and I have been a photographer since 2014! I hope to teach journalism one day at the high school level.
Josie Whitaker
Senior at Kansas State University
Hi there! My name is Josie Whitaker, and you have officially discovered the face behind the Z96.3 mask. I play all of your favorite hits 7-midnight on weekdays. I grew up in Lyndon, Kansas, and have traveled far and near, but the Little Apple is where I currently call home. I currently study Journalism at Kansas State University. Outside of my job and school, I love gardening and treasure hunting at local thrift stores.
Bernie Harkins

Hello! I’m Bernie Harkins and I’m majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I’m from St. Louis, MO. Something I enjoy within my career field is meeting new people and learning about what they are passionate about. My future goal is to become a television show host of my own show!
